All our kits have been rigorously tested thousands of times; from daily road use, to the most demanding levels of motorsport. We've been using Mocal and Setrab oil coolers for over 10 years without any issues. There are lots of cheaper imported options available, but none as reliable there aren't many things worse than a burst oil cooler! In fact, we've had reports of front end collisions and the oil cooler was the only thing that still worked!
Our custom mounting brackets give you total flexibility to mount the oil cooler in any position you want to get maximum air flow. You can even mount it upside down or on its side! This comprehensive kit arrives with everything you need for a stress-free installation. Whilst it's crucial to keep the oil from overheating, maintaining the correct oil temperature is equally as important.For a non-dedicated track/race/rally vehicle eg. Fast road with occasional track use, we would recommend adding a thermostat as the oil might not reach its optimal temperature without one, especially on short trips.
A thermostat allows 90% of the oil to bypass the oil cooler until the temperature reaches 92°C (197.6°F). 10% of the oil always circulates through the cooler to prevent air pockets and shocking the system with oil that is too cold.Once the oil reaches the correct temperature, the thermostat fully opens and 100% of the oil gets sent to the cooler. If the oil temperature drops too much the thermostat closes and reduces the amount of the oil going to the cooler. This keeps the oil temperature safe and in its optimal operating range. If required, we also offer a 82°C (179.6°F) thermostat for specialist applications, please let us know if this is something you need.
